CHERRY MOBILEW100: 2GB INTERNAL MEMORY

ANO nga ba ang silbi ng mabilis ng smartphone like W100 running on 1Ghz snapdragon chips kung 3 hanggang 5 games at apps lang ang pwede mong ilagay. Bitin di ba?

The next thing you will encounter is when you received "LOW MEMORY" notification while in the middle of downloading apps and Games. Because CM W100 comes only with 512 MB internal memory.

Yes, its really annoying and it will freak you out while trying to remove "loved apps" and favorite games just to accommodate space for the next download.

This is the right time to EXPAND your internal memory to 2GB. Yes 2 Gygabyte....internal memory

To be able to do this you have to perform the following procedure:

This is what they call it DATA2Ext.

You will be needing the following materials and apps to perform this procedure.

1. Root Explorer, ES file explorer, Solid Explorer or any file explorer with root access (you can download at the end of this post)
2. SD Card at least 4GB or better if you have 8Gb or higher
3. Rooted W100 of course
MINITOOL Partition Wizard (you can download at the end of this post)

PROCEDURE:

A. Make a partition on your SD card using MINITOOL Partition Wizard. First partition should be higher, this is the part where you phone use to read as your External Memory. It has to be on the following properties: FAT32, primary. The second partition should be 2GB, set it to primary and EXT2. Now apply all the changes and let the MINITOOL process your card into two partition, wait till it finished initializing.

B. Download data2ext file and extract with winrar or any other extracting tool like 7Zip or B1 archiver to your desktop (for you to easily find the files). Make a new folder to your FAT32 memory and name it "scriptz", of course without the " ".

C. Now, copy the extracted file to the "scriptz" folder and remove your SD card from the card reader. Insert it to your phone and turn it on.

B. On the Solid Explorer (file explorer), navigate to the SD card and copy the following files to the corresponding folders:

• Copy busybox_d2sd to /system/xbin
• Copy e2fck to system/bin
• Copy 01data2ext.sh to /sdcard/scriptz
• Copy install-recovery.sh to /system/etc (If prompted to overwrite, then yes
• Set intall-recovery.sh permission to rxw -rx -rx OR rwx r-x r-x
• Reboot phone
• Wait until booted to OS
• Confirm your internal storage. If hasn’t changed, wait for a couple of minutes. Then check again.

Now you have a 2GB internal memory ang a 6GB external memory (if you use 8GB SD Card), I guess that is enough to download all you can and play the HD games without the hassle on "low memory" notification.

 OVERVIEW

This process of DATA2ext is not literally expanding your internal memory. Ito ay tinatawag na VIRTUAL EXPANSION. Ang DATA2Ext process ay isang pamamaraan para ang basahin ng processor ay ang bahagi ng SD card bilang internal memory. Sa ganong paraan maari kayong maglagay at magdownload ng mga paborito ninyong apps at games.

 Mayroon ding dis-advantage ang pag-gamit ng DATA2Ext. Minsan kung ang inyong SD Card ay mahinang klase..bumibigay ang partition at nagreresulta sa pag "crash" ng system. Pag nakaranas kayo ng sunod sunod na "force close" at sunod sunod na kusang pag-reboot ng inyong device, maaring ito ay sanhi ng partition at ng SD. Yun iba ang akala nila ito ay bootloop, pero pag pinalitan ninyo ang inyong SD card ng walang partition, ang W100 ay babalik sa kanyang normal na boot dun sa point kung kelan ninyo ginawa ang DATA2Ext process.

Pag nangyari ang ganon, palitan ang SD ng mas matibay at magandang klase. Sa akign experienced ang 8GB ng CDR king, Sony at Trancend ay matatag sa mga ganitong partition. Mas maige kung ang gagamitin ay yun mga high speed 133X ang klase or kung wala naman pwede na ang class 4, yun nga lang kailangan ingatan lang ang paggamit.
